Self-Hosting
There is an open-source edition of Carroted Data that you can run yourself with Docker Compose. It has the ingest API, a worker, TimescaleDB, Redis and Grafana with a ready-made dashboard.
It doesn't include the app, crates, plans or the AI analyst.
Start it
You need Docker with Docker Compose, 2 GB of RAM or more (4 GB for real use), and disk space for your data.
git clone https://github.com/harborscale/telemetry-harbor-oss.git
cd telemetry-harbor-oss
docker compose up -d
Once it's running:
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Ingest API | http://localhost:8000/api/v2 |
| Grafana | http://localhost:3000 |
The stack ships with default passwords for testing. Before you use it for real, change POSTGRES_PASSWORD, REDIS_PASSWORD, API_KEY and GF_SECURITY_ADMIN_PASSWORD in docker-compose.yml.
Send to it
The self-hosted API has no crates, so there's no crate ID in the URL:
| Send | URL |
|---|---|
| One reading | POST /api/v2/ingest |
| A batch | POST /api/v2/ingest/batch |
| The Things Network webhook | POST /api/v2/ingest/ttn |
The body and the X-API-Key header work as in The HTTP API, with the API_KEY you set.
To point Lighthouse at it, use --endpoint instead of --harbor-id:
sudo lighthouse --add --name "local-server" --endpoint "http://192.168.1.50:8000" --key "YOUR_API_KEY" --source linux
Keeping data
The self-hosted edition keeps readings for 365 days. Change it in init.sql before the first start.
