Send Your First Reading
The quickest way to see Carroted Data work is the test button in the app. Then send one yourself with curl.
Send a test reading
Open your crate. Send data is the first section.
Tap Send a test reading. The app sends a reading from a device called simulator_device with the metric temperature and the value 25.5.
The Response box shows the reply. 200 OK with "status": "Data received and queued" means it worked.
Send one from your terminal
Under Your keys, tap Show next to API key. The code under it now has your key filled in.
With the send.sh tab selected, tap Copy code. It looks like this:
curl -X POST "https://data.carroted.com/api/v2/ingest/YOUR_CRATE_ID" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-H "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY" \
-d '{"device": "sensor-1", "metric": "temperature", "value": 22.5}'
Paste it into a terminal and press Enter. You'll get the same Data received and queued reply.
Your crate now has two devices, simulator_device and sensor-1, each with a temperature metric. The tag at the top of the crate changes to Live.
The send.py and send.ino tabs hold the same reading in Python and for an ESP32. See Examples.
