Your First Crate
A crate is where your readings live. The first time you sign in, Carroted Data makes one for you, called my first crate, on the Free plan, and opens it.
Inside a crate
The crate page has three sections:
| Section | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Send data | Your crate ID and API key, the URLs to send to, code you can paste, a test reading and CSV upload |
| See data | The dashboard store, and Grafana sign-in details for when one-click sign-in doesn't work |
| Settings | Today's usage, your limits, the plan, the description, a new API key, and deleting the crate |
At the top, Open Grafana opens your dashboards and Ask AI opens the AI analyst on this crate. The tags under the name show the plan, the crate type and where it stands today: Live, No data today or Limit reached.
Make another crate
On Your crates, tap New crate.
Enter a Name (for example greenhouse). Use letters, numbers and spaces, 3 to 100 characters. Names can't be changed later.
Choose Free or Maker. The line below shows how many readings a day the plan takes and how long it keeps them. See Plans and limits.
Open More options to pick the Type:
| Type | When to use |
|---|---|
| General | HTTP API, CSV upload, Lighthouse. The default. |
| The Things Network | LoRaWAN devices sending through a The Things Network webhook. |
Tap Create crate. The new crate opens straight away.
The Crates figure on Your crates shows how many crates you have out of the number your account allows.
